Ale Galán: King of the court in Malmo

Ale Galán: King of the court in Malmo

Ale Galan is in spectacular form. His victory at the Malmo Open shows the adidas player is probably in his best moment of the season. The victory in the final against Martin di Nenno and Franco Stupaczuk by 6-3 and 6-4 in Sweden was the second consecutive title for Galan and his partner Juan Lebron.

The final victory in Malmo is Ale Galan's fourth title this season. All of them have come after the summer break. In fact, since the return of the World Padel Tour, Galan has won four of the six tournaments that have been played. Him and Juan Lebron are in a spectacular run of form right now.

An immaculate tournament

The Malmo Open was a masterclass for Ale Galan and his partner. In the whole tournament they only dropped just one set. It was in the last sixteen, in the match against Pablo García and Mike Yanguas. In the rest of the matches, Galan and Lebron didn't need a third set to win.

The best display was probably in the semifinal match. In it, they defeated the number one ranked couple with an astonishing demonstration of superiority. The final score, 6-2, 6-1, highlighted Galán and his partner's dominance. The player from Madrid brought out his best game and showed that he is offering his best padel towards the close of the season.

In the final, Martin di Nenno and Franco Stupaczuk were tough opponents, as they have shown all year. In the first set they broke Galan and Lebron's serve in the first game. But the Superpibes ensured that small advantage vanished in the next game.

Ale and his partner secured the next serve and broke the Argentinean pair’s serve. They confirmed their advantage with a 4-1 lead that was enough to win the first set by holding their serve.

In the second set, the equality of the end of the first set was maintained. Both pairings were totally confident on serve. In fact, the first break points came for Di Nenno and 'Stupa'. Galan and Lebron saved up to five breakpoints.

In the ninth game of the set, and the first time opportunity they had in their favour, Ale and his partner took advantage and won the game. From their own service, as they had done throughout the tournament, they held out and won the tournament, perhaps showing they are currently the best male couple in the world padel, certainly in the best form.
