Galán secures his second title of the season in Brussels

Ale Galán continues to add to his list of achievements. The adidas player embodies competitiveness in his DNA, and consistently proves it tournament after tournament. At the P2 Premier Padel event in Brussels, we've had the privilege to witness how that winning spirit has propelled him to lift yet another trophy. This marks his second title this season and the first since his change of partners in the top international circuit.

The performance of the Madrid-born player in Belgium was flawless, not dropping a single set leading up to the title match. And in the final, Galán and his new partner, the Argentine Fede Chingotto, defeated the top-ranked Premier Padel pair, Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia.

An immaculate path

In the four matches leading up to the final, Galán and his partner haven't dropped a single set. In two of those matches, they managed to whitewash their opponents, and it was only in the semifinals that they had to resort to a tiebreak to clinch the set in their favour. In that match prior to the final, against Jon Sanz and Jorge 'Coki' Nieto, the first set had to be decided in the mentioned tiebreak. However, the second set was resolved without conceding a single game in favour of Ale and his partner.

A high-stakes final

The challenge reached its peak in the title match. Between Galán and the P2 Brussels trophy stood the best pair on the circuit in the last two years. The Galán-Chingotto versus Tapia-Coello showdown was arguably the most thrilling matchup a top-level padel tournament could offer.

The final started off well for Ale and his partner with a break in their favour. However, the set balanced out after six games (3-3). Another break in their favour immediately afterward paved the way for the Madrid native to secure the first set.

In the second set, the intensity remained high. Battling point by point, Galán and Chingotto secured the break that put them ahead at 5-3 with the serve. But as they say, you have to beat them twice. What seemed like a title-clinching moment turned into a fatal tiebreak loss in favour of the opponents. The match headed into the third and deciding set: adding another layer of epic drama.
