My first adidas padel racket

My first adidas padel racket

The process of choosing our first padel racket is always accompanied by a dose of excitement as well as having a number of doubts and questions. For this reason, we are going to review the key to choosing a suitable first racket to start in this wonderful sport. The first thing to know is that padel rackets behave differently depending on their composition, shape and technologies.

What characteristics should my first padel racket have?

Innovation and design has brought padel rackets to incredible levels of detail to perfect the game. The time will come for you to seek a racket that will help get more power into your shots, or execute unplayable spin shots. For now, as a beginner, it is best to have a comfortable, light racket in your hand that allows you to master all kinds of shots.

For this, we need a control racket. Identifying a racket designed for control is very simple since it is increasingly common to find the type of game for which it is designed in the product specifications. Let’s look at some of the necessary characteristics of a control padel racket for beginners:

  • Round shape: this structure of the racket head guarantees maximum dominance. The tear-shaped racket can also be an option to get slightly more power.
  • Light: the less the racket weighs, the greater capacity it will have to be handled with ease.
  • Comfortable composition: we need materials that make our work as easy as possible. The ideal combination is made up of EVA Soft Rubber and fibreglass, two slightly rigid compounds that limit vibrations and guarantee a better ball output.
  • Durability: Your first racket will take all kinds of bumps and scrapes. It is part of the process. Therefore, the presence of some reinforcement on the edges and in sensitive parts will give you peace of mind.

The rackets to use when you start playing

Drive 3.1The Drive 3.1 is one of the most complete adidas options to start playing padel. Round in shape, made of EVA Soft Rubber and fibreglass, it meets all the requirements to be an easy-to-handle control padel racket. In addition, it has the Structural Reinforcement and Linear Smart Holes technologies for greater resistance.

In the Drive Light 3.1, we also find a perfect padel racket for players who are taking their first steps in the game. It's also round and features the same materials and technologies as the Drive 3.1. What is the difference? Well, as its name reveals, the Drive Light 3.1 is up to 30 grams lighter, an aspect to take into account.

Match 3.1Looking at a different range, but maintaining the fundamentals of a beginner padel racket, we suggest the Match 3.1. In this racket we find similar characteristics to those of the previous two in terms of control, but with some nuances. The composition and reinforcement technologies are the same, but the shape of the head changes. Instead of being round, the shape of the Match 3.1 is a teardrop. And what does it mean? Rackets with this design have higher power capacity than round ones.

With the Match Light 3.1 it happens as with the Drive Light 3.1. We are talking about the same characteristics as the Match 3.1 but with less weight, that is, easier handling.

Going one step further

Another option to take into account in our first steps in padel is to look for a type of racket that is easy to use but has certain features that can be useful to us as we grow in the game. That is, an election that serves both beginner and intermediate levels. For this, the RX range is our best option.RX 300

The three rackets in the RX family are round in shape and are made up of the combination of EVA Soft Rubber and fibreglass that we have already mentioned above. They are easy to master rackets. In addition to the reinforcement technologies that the four rackets that we have already seen have, we must add the Structural Power. It is a reinforcement system in the heart of the racket (the link between the handle and the head) to make them more rigid in the structure and achieve greater shot power. An aspect that will be very useful to us as we improve in the game. This technology has slight variations in each of the RX blades:

  • The RX 100 has a fibre reinforcement that surrounds the inner part of the heart of the racket. It is the least rigid of the three.
  • The RX 200 Light has a double insert that crosses the heart of the racket.
  • The RX 300 incorporates a thick mold that occupies a large part of the heart of the racket. It is the most rigid of the three.
